Духовный шедевр. "Ностальгия" Андрей Тарковский

На днях я посмотрела "Ностальгию" Тарковского... И это первый его фильм, который я увидела. 


Это оказалось мое кино. Кино, когда каждый кадр - шедевриальное фото. Сенсорное кино, смотря которое, я вся в нем и одновременно в своих мыслях. Я отдыхаю под такое кино. Оно меня не напрягает, оно оставляет приятные душевные ощущения, оно наполняет меня духовно. Для меня такое кино - это настоящие чувства, глубокие переживания режиссера, которые он смог до меня донести и я это ценю.

Хотя меня много раз хотели отвезти с ним познакомить, мне как-то дико не удобно тревожить человека в 92 года.

Melancholia

Безумно красивый фильм, сводящий с ума и заставляющий задуматься над своей жизнью и жизнью планеты в целом. Такого конца света не представлял еще никто.

Очень не хочется писать много об этом фильме, я считаю, что его должен посмотреть каждый.

Очень сильный фильм и очень глубокий. Я посмотрела его более 2х недель назад и до сих пор под впечатлением.

i'll give you my love, but not my heart.

this precious short film was introduced to me by a dear friend of mine. starring jason schwartzman and kirsten dunst, the film properly displays the spring/summer '10 opening ceremony collection. watching the 5-plus minute film gives one a sense of nostalgia with its grainy imagery. seeing the faux relationship pan out can make anyone long for something similiar...even if it only lasts until the credits roll.

i just finished watching the, independent spirit awards that took place this past saturday on the santa monica beach. it's an incredibly laid-back award show that gives credit where credit is due. mostly focusing on indie films that wouldn't get the recognition, otherwise. mary-kate olsen along with sir ben kingsley presented the 'first original screenplay' which was awarded to dustin lance black for, milk. mary-kate olsen looked stunning in a balmain-esque dress. the wide shoulders and neckline are nice extras to the simplicity of the dress. mary-kate pulled it altogether, effortlessly.

p.s if you haven't seen 'the wackness,' i highly recommend that you do so.

'she's in control'

joy division's, 'love will tear us apart' has always seemed eerily beautiful. the lyrics and the tone of lead singer, ian curtis' voice are passionate, yet painful. so it's no wonder that curtis lived a short and tragic life that ended at the age of 23, when he commited suicide. in fact, deborah curtis, the wife of ian had the title of the song inscribed on his tombstone which shows the significance of the melody that has served as inspiration to many musicians that have lived after the late ian curtis.

control, is a biopic of the last seven years of ian curtis' life. the film is based on deborah curtis' memorir, 'touching from a distance.' the film is directed by anton corbijn who first met joy division months before ian curtis' death in may of 1980. corbijn chose to shoot the film in black and white. originally, the actual black and white version was far too grainy and corbijn thought that was another element that the audience would pay attention to, which would take away from the story. a color version of the film was tranformed into black and white, making the film seemed modernized. corbijn chose the film to be shot in black and white, because every photo of joy division was not that of color.

the selection of the cast is incredible, for there is an uncanny resemblance to joy division. after watching the film i moved onto the special features, which had live footage of two joy division performances. sam riley, who portrays ian curtis, performs just as curtis had. although, it is noticeable that curtis' stage presence was more natural than that of riley. riley does not capture the pain in curtis' voice, but that alone is something rare and doesn't seem to be easily carbon copied. not a single interview of joy division has ever been recorded, making it challenging for the character voices to match up to the originals. memory served as the only source of information provided for that certain aspect of the film. the film in it's entirity was beautifully shot and was filled with information as to why ian curtis had been deeply depressed. the love he shared was sorrowful which translated into joy division's timeless music.

today marks one year since heath ledger's passing. the talented actor's oscar nomination for supporting actor was announced earlier today. he definitely deserves the recognition for his short, but successful career.

the darjeeling (un)limited.

I just watched, "the darjeeling limited." I am aware that the film has been out for over a year now, but i never got around to actually renting it let alone seeing it in theatres. i'm incredibly glad that i was finally able to free myself so i could enjoy it. the wes anderson film did not dissappoint. in fact, it kept me on the edge of my seat, contrary to what others might think.

the leads in the film are: adrien brody, jason schwartzman, and owen wilson whom all play brothers who are on a spiritual quest to reconnect after not speaking to one another after a year. This is all done while traveling through india. what may surprise people is the "first part" to the darjeeling limited. 'hotel chevalier' serves as a 13 minute prologue to the film featuring a love story between jason schwartzman and natalie portman. although natalie portman does not reappear in the "second part" of the film, she does make a lovely impact. I was completely enamored by the 'first part' of the film as i saw it as a charmingly, seductive piece. The 'second part' of the film does give a few laughs and surprises. it's definitely worth seeing.

happy birthday.

happy birthday to me (two days late, of course) and to all of the other virgos.

this is one of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite movies. the following scene is from marie antoinette, showing the title character celebrating her 18th birthday. to me, the celebration would be the ultimate way to spend a birthday. watching the sunrise with a few close friends is just icing on the cake.

crumpets, tea, and amelie

i have been longing for an elegant tea set for awhile now. i just don't think it is very practically for me to buy a set when i'm still living at home with my parents. that will all change in about a month or so; then i will finally be able to own one of my very own.




what would be even more perfect, is having a cup of tea while watching one of my all-time favorite films. (which i finally bought a few days ago)
'amelie' is a charming little story. i decided to put up the "english" version of the trailor, instead of the original (french) version. that way you could get a better idea of what the film is about, if you don't already know. the film is in french, but luckily there are subtitles. this was my very first foreign film that i watched in it's entirity, which then started my love affair with foreign films.

while heath ledger is still on my mind i couldn't help getting emotional looking at this photo of the perfectly, loving pair. matilda will constantly be reminded of just how adorable her parents were as a couple.

the dark knight

about 24 hours ago i was sitting on the edge of my seat in an imax theater watching, the dark knight. the very first time heath ledger appeared on the screen i literally felt my heart drop. his portrayal of the joker was absolutely remarkable, as was the rest of the movie. i have never watched a movie where i forgot that the character was being played by a famous actor. heath ledger's performance is definitely oscar-worthy and i would be highly disappointed if that title does not become his. every movie i have seen of heath ledger has been incredible, but the joker character is in a ballpark all its own. this movie deserves to shatter all of the previous box office records, if not for the enire film...than the late heath ledger and his incredible performance.

i am still in awe at how one person can throw themselves into a role the way mr. ledger did. i would like to compare heath ledger's work as the joker to that of johnny depp and daniel day lewis. that is a great compliment all in itself. in loving memory of an amazing actor.
