TAFE on Italian Fashion Week and Michel Di Bartol with his book

Tarragindi is a long way from Tuscany but doesn't mean its cosmopolitan reach has not extended to the Brisbane suburb.
Up and coming local fashion designer Caitlin Rowe is one of 18 Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE (MSIT) students who have been handpicked to showcase their garments as part of Italian Fashion Week.

Michele Di Bartolo said the recipes drew on the Sicilian culinary tradition of simple, peasant food so were simple and easy to make.

The Sicilian Kitchen by Michele Di’Bartolo @ Italian Week Celebrations

Food and family were at the core of Michele Di Bartolo's upbringing.
Memories of sitting in her grandmother's kitchen watching her cook, coupled with a trip to her ancestral home of Sicily in 2005, spurred the lawyer to put pen to paper upon her return.
The result is The Sicilian Kitchen, a memoir with a liberal dash of traditional, homestyles Sicilian recipes scattered trhoughout.
"When I came back after three months, I just felt the need to write about my family's culture and history, and growing up as a migrant in Brisbane," Ms Di Bartolo said.
